Office 2.0 at Software 2007
Wednesday, January 24th 2007 | Ismael Ghalimi
As indicated in this earlier post, IT|Redux is partnering with the Sand Hill Group to promote Office 2.0 at the Software 2007 conference, which will take place on May 8-9 in Santa Clara, CA. We have slots for speakers, and space available for exhibitors on the Office 2.0 Pavilion.
This year’s edition of M. Rangaswami’s event should be quite interesting. It is now part of CMP (as the Web 2.0 Conference), and more than 2,000 participants are expected to show up, including 450 CIOs. On the list of keynote speakers, you find Steve Ballmer (Microsoft), David Ewalt (EMC), Marc Benioff (Salesforce.com), and Ed Zander (Motorola).
During this event, Office 2.0 will be part of a 2.0 track that I will co-organize with fellow blogger and friend Jeff Clavier. The two main topics will be Enterprise 2.0 and Office 2.0, the former taking a top-down approach for collaboration, while the later takes a bottom-up approach for user productivity. The goal for the track is to indentify areas where the two overlap to serve the needs of corporate users. We will organize four sessions, for which we are currently selecting moderators and panelists. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to drop me a line.
The Office 2.0 Pavilion should be quite interesting as well. Essentially, we get as much space as we need on the exhibition floor to present the coolest Office 2.0 companies out there. Office 2.0 exhibitors will have demo pods similar to the ones we used at the Office 2.0 Conference, for a very affordable fee. Awards will be granted to the best companies and services. If you want your company to take part in this, please send me an email.
Last but not least, Intalio will have a pod on the pavilion and demonstrate Intalio|BPMS integrated with the Alfresco Content Management System, the Liferay Portal, and the MuleSource ESB. We will also present our new Web 2.0 user interface, with all kinds of neat little tricks to make process workers more productive. Web 2.0 meets BPM 2.0, again.
The early bird rate expires on January 31st, so make sure to register soon!

Ismael,
I am trying to set up a news feed reader for my company, and I am not quite sure where to start. If you have any experience in this area, would you share your thoughts?
Thanks
-Ryan
Ryan,
May I ask why you need to setup anything. Can’t you use something like Google Reader? I have been using it for over a year now, and it works really well for me.
Best regards
-Ismael
Ismael,
I am testing Google Reader, and it looks great except that I can not figure out how to do the following: I need to watch for news with a few keywords representing my specific area of interest, throughout all the feeds I subscribe to. Newsgator has that feature, it’s called watches. I would still prefer Google Reader, but i do not know if it has that capability. By the way, what’s the difference between a news reader and a news aggregator? Sorry to bug you, I am just trying to learn.
Thanks
-Ryan
Ryan,
I do not think that Google Reader supports the definition of watches yet.
I’m not sure what the difference between a news reader and a news aggregator is, but I would assume that a news aggregator can produce a feed that aggregates all the feeds you’re subscribing to, allowing you to re-publish the aggregated feed.
Best regards
-Ismael
Ismael,
I would really appreciate if you could provide a video recording of your demonstration at Software 2007. This would allow us to understand the beauty of integrating BPMS+ESB+ECM+Portal in a live context.
Regards
Tomoaki,
I cannot promise anything, but I’ll do my best.
Best regards
-Ismael
