GTD and Office 2.0
Friday, May 26th 2006 | Ismael Ghalimi
My original post on Getting Things Done with Office 2.0 remains one of my most popular articles, but it’s more than five months old, and several new tools have become available in the meantime. Among them, Tracks and Wridea are definitely worth taking a look at.
Tracks is a straight implementation of David Allen’s Getting Things Done methodology. It was built using Ruby on Rails and provides a very clean user interface that fans of 37signals’ Basecamp will be naturally familiar with. My implementation of the GTD relies heavily on Salesforce.com, but I think I should be able to improve it based on some ideas implemented in Tracks.
Wridea is much more akin to a sophisticated notepad, but the ability to organize ideas into categories and the original user interfaces are quite interesting. If its developers manage to bake the GTD’s core principles into the application, Wridea might become a powerful GTD helper for Office 2.0 converts.
